Major news has been released from Disney! Just as we were starting to get used to purchasing Lightning Lanes and Genie+ for our trips, it’s time to switch it up! Disney has decided to take away Genie+ and add a new feature called Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Let’s see what this big change has to offer!
In Memory of FastPass
So long ago (before Covid), there was a feature called FastPass. It was beloved by many people, and we were heartbroken when they took it away. Basically, you were able to select threeFastPasses for any attraction and enter the quick line. Once you finished the three, you could select more. One of the best parts about this was it was free to everyone. During Covid, Disney replaced this with Lightning Lane, which you had to purchase individual LL on the day of your visit or buy Genie+ where you could get LL for select attractions (around 2-3 rides a day) and beat the other guests because there was a limited amount of LL available. The LL had a specific arrival time that you would enter the queue. Now, here come the new changes.
New Lightning Lane Multi Pass
With the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can select three attractions days in advance and choose an arrival window for each pass. This is very similar to the FastPass. Note: you are allowed to purchase a LL Multi Pass and Single Pass for the same day.
You can select from two groups. Basically, this is to make sure people don’t only book the very popular rides.
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Hollywood Studios
Animal Kingdom
Once you use your first LL you can select a new one from any of the groups as available.
When to Purchase
Anyone staying at a Disney Resort, the Swan and Dolphin Resort, the Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green Resort can purchase a LL passes 7 days in before their resort stay. For anyone else (Annual Passholder and other guests), they can purchase it up to 3 days in advance of their visit. Valid admission and a park reservation is required for those guests to purchase LLs. You are able to make LLs for multiple days of your trip at once.

Additional Perks
With a Lightning Lane pass, you can also receive digital download photos and select videos of your ride with Disney PhotoPass Service. You can also use the PhotoPass Lenses available in the MDE app. This is a nice perk so that you don’t have to buy the Memory Maker separately if you only want your ride photos.
So, the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass is very similar to FastPass+. Though we will definitely miss FP as it was basically perfect, the new improvements moving away from Genie+ is definitely a step in the right direction.
