Nature at Lookout Cay

At Disney Lookout Cay, guests can immerse themselves in the unique native animal and plant species of the Bahamas. The island is home to over 100 dazzling bird species, including the Kirtland’s warbler, the thick-billed vireo, and the gray and white piping plovers. Disney has implemented a bird monitoring program to protect these feathered friends and purposefully designed the destination to avoid sensitive bird habitats, offering a unique opportunity to observe these creatures up close.

The waters off Disney Lookout Cay are teeming with marine life, boasting 74 fish species and over 60 other identified species. Disney has added special features under the open-trestle pier to support these aquatic creatures, including artificial reefs to establish an underwater “fish highway” for safe passage.

The island is also home to a diverse range of native plants, with nearly 200 species gracing the landscape. To preserve the native vegetation, Disney has intentionally developed only about 16% of the land, employing low-density structures and elevated walkways to minimize impacts on the natural environment.

Disney’s dedication to conservation is not just a promise but a reality at Lookout Cay. Over the past 25 years, the Disney Conservation Fund has provided more than 80 grants to nonprofit organizations in The Bahamas, working tirelessly to protect its natural wonders.

Food & Beverages

Alongside its natural splendor, Disney Lookout Cay will also offer a delightful culinary journey featuring a diverse array of Bahamian-inspired dishes and refreshing sips. Guests can relish Grilled BBQ Ribs, Island Spiced Rotisserie Chicken, and freshly Grilled Cheeseburgers, among other mouthwatering options. The island will also serve various beverages, including Bahamian-inspired drinks and classic cocktails, providing an authentic taste of the Bahamas.

Mickey & Friends’ Bahamian Looks!

The new Bahamian looks for Mickey and Friends, designed by acclaimed Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett, are truly impressive. Theodore incorporated the vibrant spirit of the beloved Bahamian tradition, Junkanoo, into the designs with eye-catching details like fringe, and the Bahamian island inspiration in the vacation looks is especially bright. The natural Bahamian straw handiwork woven into the outfits, along with the raffia accessories and poms, is a lovely nod to traditional Bahamian craft. It’s clear that Theodore put a lot of thought and creativity into making Mickey and his pals look and feel as though they were comfortably on vacation, island style. The entire collection, titled “Junkanoo Fun in the Sun,” truly celebrates the beauty of The Bahamas and matches the varying personalities of Mickey and his pals. The designs authentically tell the story of Bahamian culture while infusing it with the magic of Disney.

As we eagerly await the opening of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, the anticipation for this vibrant island destination continues to grow. Whether exploring the rich wildlife, enjoying the culinary delights, or basking in the natural beauty, Disney Lookout Cay promises to be a captivating experience for guests of all ages.
