Discover Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya: Epcot’s Newest Culinary Gem

Have you heard the saying, “When one door closes, another one opens?” Well, we’ve had experiences that prove this to be true.

Once, my sister was experiencing fatigue right before we got on to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Of course, we were disappointed that we didn’t get to ride it, but we always try to see the brighter side of things. We decided to take the boat around the World Showcase.

The first mate noticed that my sister wasn’t feeling well. She recommended that we sit somewhere because she was suffering from heat exhaustion (yeah, it happens to Floridians too). It suddenly popped into her mind that a brand new sushi restaurant in Japan was doing a soft opening.

We love sushi, so we were down with this idea and headed to Japan to try it. This is when we discovered one of our favorite restaurants: Shiki-Sai. We heard about the creation of this restaurant a few years ago and have been anxious for its opening. This experience was fantastic; it was almost empty, and we were among the first to try the restaurant.

Service

We had such a great time at Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya. The servers warmly greet you as you walk in, and they strike the gong when you enter. Every server was extremely kind and glad to assist.

Scenery

Shiki-Sai has beautiful scenery overlooking the World Showcase lagoon. It’s a great place to view the fireworks at night. It also has an open sushi bar where you can see the rolls being carefully crafted.

Food

All of the food was unbelievably delicious. The specialty rolls are bursting with flavor, and you can’t go wrong with the classic rolls. All rolls are intricately created with great quality ingredients and fresh seafood sprinkled with unique Disney flair. You can remove or add an element of a roll if you desire. I don’t love spicy mayo, so I requested my Golden Dragon Roll be made without spicy mayo.

Kids Options

During this dining experience, kids can be the chefs. They can construct sushi rolls with their sushi kit. They get crab, tuna, shrimp tempura, cucumbers, and tamagoyaki, and the rolls can be topped with tobiko and eel sauce. It is a unique and fun experience that kids of all ages could love.

And, during different seasons, your party can celebrate various festivals for the different seasons. We ate during the summer and put our wish on the bamboo tree. Combined with the excellent service, views, reasonable pricing, and exquisite food, Shiki-Sai is a wonderful restaurant and definitely worth dining in, whether with a family or a party of one.
