20 Summer Essentials for Your 2024 Disney Vacation

Planning a trip to Disney this summer? You’re in for a magical time! Disney parks are fantastic vacation destinations with endless attractions, enchanting shows, and beloved characters around every corner. However, the summer heat can be a challenge. Here’s a list of 20 summer essentials to ensure your trip is comfortable, cool, and delightful.

1. Sunscreen

Disney parks mean hours of fun under the sun. Protect your skin with a high-SPF sunscreen. Reapply every two hours, especially after water rides or sweating. A sunburn can turn your magical day into a miserable one, so don’t skip this step! I recommend Blue Lizard Sunscreen. It does not contain Oxybenzone or Octinoxate, and some versions have a Smart Cap that informs you of UVA rays’ presence.

2. Cooling Towel

A cooling towel is a lifesaver on hot days. Wet it, wring it out, and drape it around your neck. It will help regulate your body temperature and keep you feeling refreshed. You can find them throughout the parks.

3. Sandals

Comfortable, breathable sandals are perfect for strolling the parks or hanging by the pool. Opt for a pair with good arch support and a secure fit to keep your feet happy as you trek from Adventureland to Tomorrowland.

4. Reusable Water Bottles

Staying hydrated is crucial. Bring refillable water bottles to save money and reduce waste. Many Disney parks have water fountains or refill stations, so you can stay hydrated without buying bottled water.

 5. Sunglasses

Protect your eyes from the harsh sun with a stylish pair of sunglasses. Polarized lenses are a good choice as they reduce glare and provide better visibility. Goodr sunglasses are always a great option for a pop of color with protection.

6. Hats

A wide-brimmed hat or visor shields your face and neck from the sun, which is very beneficial for the Florida sun. Not only does it provide protection, but it can also add a fun element to your Disney outfit. Look out for our park hats, coming soon!

7. Fans

Portable, battery-operated fans are a fantastic way to stay cool while waiting in line. Some fans even have a water misting feature for an extra cooling effect. You can get electric fans on Amazon or pick a Disney fan with a mister. Handheld fans are another fun option that adds some style to your outfit.

8. Umbrella

A small, lightweight umbrella has dual functionality, offering shade from the sun and protection from unexpected rain showers. Its compact size makes it easy to carry in a bag or backpack.

9. Swimsuit

Of course, this is a no-brainer, but we have had the occasional “I forgot my swimsuit!” while unpacking during a trip. Make sure to pack a swimsuit for those water park days or an afternoon at the pool. It’s a great way to cool off after a day at the parks.

10. Light Clothes

To stay cool, wear light, breathable clothing. Cotton and moisture-wicking fabrics are ideal choices. Layers are also a good idea, as indoor attractions can be chilly. Asics are a great option for breathable shorts.

11. Portable Phone Chargers

Don’t let a dead battery ruin your day. Bring a portable phone charger to keep your devices powered up so you can capture magical moments and navigate with the My Disney Experience pp. You can always grab the beloved Fuel Rod anywhere in the parks. You can find Fuel Rod kiosks using the MDE app by searching “Fuel Rods.”

12. Pool Bag

A dedicated pool bag will keep all your swimming essentials organized and ready to go. Make sure it’s big enough to hold your swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and a change of clothes.

13. Pool Book

14. Sun Dress

A sun dress is perfect for staying cool while looking stylish. Great for brunch or an evening out to dinner. Choose a dress made from lightweight fabric to ensure comfort throughout the day.

15. Fruit

Healthy snacks like fruit can keep your energy levels up. Pack easy-to-carry options like apples, grapes, or bananas to munch on between rides. If you keep them in the fridge in your room, they will be refreshing to eat after a hot day in the parks.

16. Lip Balm with Sunscreen

Remember to protect your lips! Use a lip balm with SPF to prevent them from getting dry or sunburned. Sun Bum has nine divine flavors with SPF 30 and five with SPF 15.

17. Hair Ties

Hair ties are essential for keeping hair off the face and neck, especially during hot and windy weather. They also help maintain a comfortable and neat appearance.

18. Waterproof Phone Case

With Disney’s fantastic summer waterpark, Typhoon Lagoon, a waterproof phone case will protect your phone from damage, so you can bring it in the lazy river or on Crush n’ Gusher. Plus, it allows you to take fun underwater photos!

19. Tennis Shoes

A comfortable pair of tennis shoes is a must for long days of walking around the parks. Ensure they are well-broken in to avoid blisters.

Bug spray is a must if you are prone to getting bitten during the evening. If you forget, an easy solution is to order a Target delivery for Off! spray and pick it up at the front desk.
